building responsibly, giving back

Construction with purpose — for people, communities, and the planet.
At BELNIC, we see every project as an opportunity to create lasting value. By reducing waste, embracing sustainable practices, and supporting community and industry initiatives, we’re committed to making a positive impact that extends far beyond the build.
Sustainable Building Solutions
At BELNIC, we are committed to reducing building waste and finding innovative ways to recycle and repurpose materials. Rather than sending surplus furniture, equipment, or finishes to landfill, we look for opportunities to give them a new life. From uplifting and recycling thousands of square metres of carpet tiles, to coordinating with second-hand furniture and IT resellers, our approach ensures each project contributes to a more sustainable future. We also proudly participate in Interface’s Carbon Neutral Floor program, actively reducing emissions across our industry.
We also believe in giving back. Through Project YUMI, we’ve donated furniture, medical equipment, and books to schools and healthcare facilities in Papua New Guinea — including ultrasound machines and classroom seating. In 2022, we joined forces with industry partners to deliver 900m² of quality carpet tiles to flood-affected communities in Northern New South Wales. These initiatives not only reduce waste, but also make a real difference in people’s lives.

Supporting Future Builders
We are proud sponsors of the Australian Institute of Building’s Young Builder’s Alliance (YBA) for 2024/25. By supporting this network, we help emerging construction professionals gain access to mentorship, industry insights, and hands-on site experiences. It’s part of our commitment to growing the next generation of innovators and leaders in construction.

Industry Engagement & Education
Our directors regularly engage with universities, including Queensland University of Technology (QUT), to provide students with real-world industry knowledge. With a focus on encouraging women to consider white-collar construction roles, we are helping shape a more inclusive and diverse workforce for the future.

Championing Women in Construction
As a majority female-owned business with an almost 50:50 gender ratio, BELNIC leads by example. Directors Hayley Bell and Nicole Detsimas are active role models across industry associations including QUT, AIB, and NAWIC — promoting leadership, equity, and opportunity for women in building and business ownership.
We are also proud to have been invited as guest speakers at two Women in Design + Construction (WIDAC) events, where our directors shared their business journey with hundreds of women across the industry. These events provided an opportunity to openly discuss challenges, successes, and lessons learned in building a female-owned construction company. By contributing to these conversations, we hope to inspire more women to pursue leadership, entrepreneurship, and long-term careers in construction and design.

Supporting Indigenous Initiatives
We are proud to collaborate with Indigenous communities by specifying finishes designed by Indigenous artists and engaging Supply Nation–registered subcontractors on our projects. These partnerships strengthen cultural visibility and provide meaningful opportunities in construction and design.
